I was on the William G. Mather in 1967 and first hit rough weather in the Fall going from Marquette to the Soo. The Mather rolled for 12 hours and I was sooooo sick I thought I was going to die ... they told me to go to bed and sleep (as if I could). After the boat came around Whitefish Point and settled down I was able to get up and eat crackers. From then on, rolling made me a bit queasy at times, but I did not get sick and I was able to work, so it must be something you can get used to. I since have been out on small craft on the ocean and really bobbed around and not been sick. We had a number of veteran salt water sailors get sick the first time they hit Lakes waves .... something about the different wave actions.
