Hi Mike, Brine is nothing more than glorified saltwater, with other liquified minerals included. Pure water from the surface is pumped down salt wells, into salt deposits, where the salt is dissolved, liquified and pumped back to the surface. The brine is then placed in tanks, until a Mckeil vessel arrives to load. The brine is mostly shipped to Amherstburg, Ontario, where the excess minerals are removed, and the brine refined to industrial grade. Other destinations for brine are Little Current, Ontario, Bay City, Michigan, Burns Harbor, Indiana, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Duluth, Minnesota, Oswego, New York, Montreal, Quebec, Oshawa, Ontario. Brine is used in pickles, other food items, keeping dust down on roads, etc.
