I always thought the Lewis G. Harriman would make a good museum ship because she's mostly as-built, as the first purpose-built cement carrier she is actually historic (as opposed to just being old), and her small size would help to reduce the costs of docking and maintaining her. Her smaller size could also make it easier to restore her to operation for occasional day cruises like they do on both coasts with the preserved Liberty Ships John W. Brown and Jeremiah O'Brien, and the Victory Ship Lane Victory. Presumably watertight bulkheads would need to be added in the cargo hold area (among numerous other presumably expensive modifications) before the Coast Guard would give her a passenger certificate, but her small size would theoretically lessen that to some extent. Unfortunately, I hear her days are numbered, so anyone hoping to save her will need to move quickly.
