You can contact the Lakes shipping companies directly for positions. Most likely you would start at a lower position then work up to the chef position. Another option is to obtain a chef position on a yacht. If interested, contact the numerous crewing agencies in Ft. Lauderdale. Also, often there are jobs posted at Maritime Professional Training school in Ft. Lauderdale. Do a web search for yacht crewing Or take a trip to Ft. Lauderdale as a work-related tax deduction. Many of the agencies are within a mile of the 17th & Fed Hwy intersection. Another option is to try the U.S. crewed cruise ships. The Grande Mariner was just on the Lakes.
