I found some information on when some of the Maritimers had deck strapping added. This came from the May/June 1972 issue of "Telescope" magazine put out by the Dossin Museum. J.BURTON AYERS sailed from Buffalo on Jan 13, 1972 for Lorain to have her deck strapped. J. H. HILLMAN, Jr was due to sail Jan 20, 1972 from Buffalo to Lorain for the same. Finally THOMAS WILSON laid up a Erie, PA that winter (1971/1972) for a deck strapping by Erie Marine. Interesting thing to note is that all these ships were owned by Wilson at the time and the company was in the early stages of liquidation.
