Does a Great Lakes boat open a new log book each shipping season? Or do they use them until all the pages are full? What happens to old log books? Is there a USCG requirement to keep them for a certain period of time? A reason for the boat's owners to keep them? I assume that if they are not required to be kept by the owners, that they have become yet item for the collector.
