The Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas 
and all round the lake 
Sailors were doing anything it would take 
To get into port and to quick get their leave 
so as to be with their loved ones 
on this night--Christmas Eve.

They tucked their ships in to the harbours with care 
Hoping that spring time 
would find them still there. 
Then off to their homes and castles they sped 
While visions of Santa Clause danced in their heads.

Their wives and their loved ones 
met them at the door 
treating them like they were heros of war. 
Then with a wink of an eye 
they turned out the light, 
Saying Merry Christmas to all, 
and to all a good night!
