The Bay of Green Bay is also a relatively shallow body of water with a general north-south axis, so a stiff wind from either direction will cause the "seich" affect and 'slosh' the water to the north or south end of the Bay. This past fall I saw the water level drop by several feet in about an hour, then come back up several feet a little while later.
