Pat, I served in USCGC westwind (WAGB-281), USCGC storis (WMEC-38), USCGC mackinaw (WAGB-83),USCGC polar sea (WAGB-11) and several other cutters. Each 'breaker had it's good and bad points. It all depended upon the ice, wind, experience of operators and engineers. The one single item each had in common was their ability to roll in a seaway, and their ability to roll was tremendous.
